“To see something for the first time.. to uncover a part of the universe for the first time. That’s an incredible thing,” said one of the lead researchers from the EHT project.
The presence of the celestial body “black hole” has always been the interest of humankind. That’s why on Wednesday people around the world watched a beautiful image as scientists unveiled the first-ever images of a black hole, the center of a bright fiery ring in the darkness of space.
The announcement was so epic, it was made simultaneously in seven cities around the world, including Washington.
The photo is the product of observations made in April 2017 by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), an international consortium that linked eight radio observatories around the world to create a single, Earth-size telescope with enough magnifying might to see what until now has been unseen.
As any light that comes too close to its horizon get pulled into these gravitational mammoths and is lost forever. Taking photographs of a black hole’s interior is thus impossible.
By this the imagination of theories now come to reality, the scientist and people around the globe are overwhelmed by the this.
