Suzanne Collins has been writing a prequel book on The Hunger Games series that is scheduled for release in 2020. The studio is ‘closely working’ with Suzanne on the movie.
Lionsgate is onto a Hunger Games prequel movie simultaneously as Suzanne Collins is writing a prequel trilogy series. The book(s) should come out around May of 2020.
Lionsgate released a quote about feeling proud regarding having the rights to Hunger Games; said they’re waiting for the books to get published anxiously. “We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process”, said Joe Drake, Chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
The scholastic publishing house is planning to release Hunger Games prequel series next year; the novels will be set 64 years prior to the events of the original Hunger Games series. This will be staged around the time of the reaping of the 10th Hunger Games.
Lionsgate has since long wanted to get a Hunger Games prequel working; they previously opened the movie’s license to theme parks and live concert tours, all built around the events of the series. The studio was also pressurized by investors to produce new movies going beyond the makings of Twilight and The Hunger Games; drawing a younger audience to their movie.
The first Hunger Games movies hit the theatre in 2012 going on to make an earning of nearly $3 billion worldwide. The original cast featured Jennifer Lawrence playing the lead, Katniss Everdeen, and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta. Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, and Elizabeth Banks were among others in the cast.
