Two people were accused of raping an eleven-year-old girl on two different occasions. The common thread between the victim and the perpetrators was the friendship of the victim’s older brother and the perpetrators. The incident happened in Germantown, Md. Montgomery County Police have arrested Mauricio Barrera-Navidad, 29, of Damascus, and Carlos Palacios-Amaya, 28, of Gaithersburg, and charged each with second-degree rape.
The victim, who is 12 years old, spoke to the social workers who came to interact with her at her own middle school. She was in a sea of tears while she was talking about the incident that had happened to her.
In September 2018, the introduction of the victim happened with her older brother’s friend, Palacios-Amaya. The perpetrator was 27 years old. Over the course of the next few months, he repeatedly raped her an assaulted her. On one of the occasions, he filmed himself raping her.
Her parents, apparently, gave Palacios-Amaya unsupervised access to the victim. He urged and pressurized the victim to stay back and not go to school so that she would be home when her parents would be away. The other suspect, Barrera-Navidad, reportedly attended the victim’s older brother’s birthday party in July 2018. At one point, he went into the bedroom with the victim and raped her brutally. Then afterward, he continued to communicate with her through cell phone for the unsolicited amount of time.
It’s apparent from the documentation that both of the perpetrators were residing in the US illegally. They didn’t have any proper documentation and would be eventually deported.
