So after a long interval of 405 days, Netflix’s highest-rated Indian TV show, Sacred Games is back with Season 2, and it has lived up to the hype which was previously created before its premiere. Originally based on a best-selling and critically acclaimed novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra, Sacred Games follows the story of an anti-villain Ganesh Gaitonde and a frustrated cop Sartaj Singh.
Season 1 was highly acclaimed both critically and commercially and emerged as a show which represented Indian content on a global level for the first time. Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger with Sartaj finding a dead body with Trivedi’s ID on it. Season 2 starts from the same spot Season one left, and the story continues.
While Season one continued to provide the fans plenty of laughs through its at times sarcastic scenes and storyline but on the other hand, Season 2 is quite severe and is highly intense.
Not revealing anything about what happens in Season 2, I would just bring to your notice that it certainly has a part of every fan-favorite TV shows dipped in it, let be it Narcos, Wild Wild Country or Chernobyl. This much would be enough to give you a hint of what it is all about.
Season 2 of Sacred Games has an impressively assembled star cast which features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Ganesh Gaitonde, Saif Ali Khan as Sartaj Singh and Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji in lead roles. The arrival of Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, Amruta Subhash, and Surveen Chawla just enlightens the storyline with their impressive performances in their respective parts.
Season 2 somehow sets up doors for Season 3, by which the storyline can be continued but as for now what we know is that the story which was adapted from the original novel by Vikram Chandra has concluded in Season 2, and if the makers plan for Season 3 the writers would have to strive hard to match the popularity the series has created so far.
