Rapist Accused Of Rape And Murder Of Teenage Girl And Mother Cries On Electric Chair While He Is Executed

A person convicted of a mother’s and 15-year-old daughter’s killings was killed in Tennessee marking the third time in less than one year that the state used the power chair.

Stephen West said for his final words, “God made man at the start.” He then began to weep, before adding, “And Jesus wept. That was everything. “The words of the 56-year-old emerged in the book of Genesis and John 11:35 in the bible, in which Jesus showed compassion for men when he cried out for the death of Lazurus before he resurrected him.

As his last meal, West had a Philly cheesesteak and French fries.

West was then a 23-year-old McDonalds worker who had been in the United States Army for three years.

In a clemency plea, West stated that the murder of mom and daughter was his 17-year-old complicit Ronnie Martin.

Before going to the Romines house, the couple drove around drinking. When Wanda had them inside, Sheila had raped before her mother and daughter had stabbed to death.

Martin pleaded guilty as a juvenile while West was sentenced to death and got a life sentence in 2030.

West attorneys said in a declaration that they were profoundly disappointed at the state execution “of a man who has been diagnosed with serious mental illness, a man of defeat who for centuries has had a favorable effect on the people around him and a man who did not commit these offences through overwhelming proof, but who nevertheless took private responsibility for his participation in these offences.”

In a court file, his attorney wrote that the electric chair was “also unconstitutional but still less painful” than that of three-drug lethal injection in the state.

Prisoner lawyers David Miller and Edmund Zagorski argued the same before the electric chair died in 2018. Both asserted inadequately before courts that Tennessee’s substance use midazolam operation resulted in an extended and torturous death.

Since August 2018, Tennessee has placed two prisoners to death by lethal injection. However, prisoners whose crimes happened before 1999 can also choose the electric chair.

According to information from the Death Penalty Information Center, Virginia was the last country other than Tennessee to carry out electrical executions in 2013.

Eddie Campbell, a relative of the victims, said that due to a lengthy legal process, the family endured for many years.

“In the last 33 years our family has been very badly affected by all the appeals that we believe to be very unfair for anyone to go through,” he stated in a declaration published after the execution. “I expect that (West) made peace with God and genuinely requested forgiveness from God for such a horrific crime.”
