What does the Byrde family have in the future? That’s the issue before the launch of season three on Netflix on every Ozark fan’s mind.
Season two saw Marty and Wendy get their hands far dirtier than ever before–and it feels like the downward spiral is set to go on for a couple of years yet if it has anything to do with director and star Jason Bateman.
This year, the show will be joined by a pair of Marvel TV stars lately made redundant by Netflix. The cast will be joined by Tom Pelphrey and Jessica Frances Dukes of Iron Fist and Jessica Jones as regulars of the series.
Also in recurring roles will be Joseph Sikora and Felix Solis, while Janet McTeer, who plays Helen Pierce, and Lisa Emery (Darlene Snell) have also been bumped into regular series roles. And, of course, the whole Byrde family, including Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, are anticipated to return.
Showrunner Chris Mundy said in a news interview in August that the new season will see Ruth Langmore attempting her best to get closer to the Byrdes and see Marty fall further into darkness.
“Ruth is increasingly confident of herself, but she is thankful to Marty for being the first individual to think in her and give her duties,” said Mundy. “When we go into the third season, we see her wanting to be a member of the Byrde family. But as she gets deeper and deeper into the business, she begins to ask whether being a Byrde is the best thing to be.”
