In October 2018, The Haunting of Hill House quickly positioned itself as one of the most acclaimed and successful horror proposals to have premiered on Netflix, thanks to its intriguing narrative, its excellent performances, and its extraordinary cinematography. The series will go on sale soon in home formats with a big surprise: an extended version closer to the vision of its creator Mike Flanagan ( Ouija: The origin of evil ).
“Good news, Haunting fans! Just added to the list, new to the market. Why rent when you can have a lovely property like Hill House? Now even more spacious with an extended version of the director Mike Flanagan series, ”the producer wrote.
The Haunting of Hill House is an adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s homonymous 1959 novel about five brothers who grew up in the most famous haunted house in the United States. Years later, they are forced to meet again as after a family tragedy that forces them to face the ghosts of their past: psychological traumas and metaphysical entities. The 10 episode series featured performances by Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Pedretti, Michael Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, and Mckenna Grace.
“Well, this news came out a little earlier than we wanted… but yes, it’s true! More details are yet to come, but it was a pleasure to restore several episodes to their original form. I hope you enjoy them! ”Flanagan replied in a tweet.
The Blu-ray version does not yet have an official release date. Mike Flanagan will premiere next November his adaptation of Doctor Sleep, sequel to The Shining of Stephen King that will star Ewan McGregor; while the second season of this anthological horror series will be titled The Haunting of Bly Manor, which will be based on the novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James and is expected to reach Netflix at some point in 2020.
