No one likes to get up — especially when you’re the alleged “side chick.” That’s the lesson cops learned last week in Woodbury, New Jersey — when a 29-year-old woman set a man’s house on fire after he invited her over for some late-night sex and then slept, leaving her stranded outside.
“You’ve been wasting my money to come out here,” said Taija Russell in a text message. “I see you want to die.” Russell, a Gloucester Township resident, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated incendiary, aggravated assault, threatening/creating a significant danger of death and criminal mischief for supposed torching last week.
Cops in Woodbury City sent a weekend press release explaining how they arrested her on Tuesday after she recovered her alleged hookup buddy’s text messages.
The victim, whose identity is being denied, informed officials that he was awakened to discover his home engulfed in flames and that Russell had missed eight calls along with the texts. According to the Cherry Hill Courier-Post, the man was “covered head toe in soot and ash” when cops came in contact with him.
He allegedly went from his house to the police station for two-tenths of a mile, wearing only a t-shirt. Cops took him to a clinic for smoke inhalation and burns.
When officials came, the residence of the man and his contents were “demolished.” According to the Courier-Post, which quotes the likely cause declaration, he informed researchers that Russell was a “side girl” with whom he had a sexual connection.
Surveillance video recorded outside the house of the man reveals Russell “just before the fire” outside, states the declaration. Police still held her on Sunday.
