A teen stabbed her sister from jealousy to death. The event occurred last week in Nile Delta, Egypt.
Police said the event came to light on Monday after a child’s body was discovered and reported by the villagers. The baby was recognized as having been missing a few days ago by Jana Adel. During interrogation, the victim’s dad informed the police that before she was missing, the girl was at home with her 14-year-old elder sister.
The police then challenged the accused, recognized as Police Dunia, who admitted that the crime was committed. The eighth-grader informed the police that she used a kitchen knife to stab her younger sister to death out of jealousy as her dad always preferred the victim to her.
“I killed her because she was loved more by my father than I was,” the girl told the police. She also said she disposed of the body in an abandoned village shack after murdering her little sister. The girl led the officers to the assassination weapon she used.
An inquiry was underway and a prosecutor was referred to the case.
A 14-year-old girl strangled her 11-year-old friend “out of jealousy” to death in a comparable event in the southern Indian state of Kerala in April. Grandparents of the victim saw her lying unconsciously on their home sofa and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead. After noticing black marks on the victim’s throat, doctors alerted the police. Investigation disclosed that the girl’s death was caused by “sibling rivalry.”
“The victim was studious and her grandparents’ attention made the accused jealous. We suspect that this competition led to the assassination of the elder girl, “police said.
