A 73-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly killed her neighbor, 82, to death with a brick at a home for senior citizens in Maryland, police said Monday.
Chun Yong Oh is facing with first and second-degree murder for the death of Hwa Cha Pak,82, the Prince George’s County Police Department said. Investigation says Oh struck the victim multiple times with a brick, then called 911 to report the incident.
Police rushed at an apartment building in Bladensburg, Maryland, early Sunday to conduct a welfare investigation. They saw Pak suffering from “upper body trauma” in a garden behind the building of the apartment.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors at the senior living facility were shocked and said both Oh and Pak were longtime good friends, WRC-TV in Washington, DC reported. Police say they had been in an argument before the incident.
Pak’s eldest grandson, Andy Kwon, told that his initial anger turned to shock when he knew the age of the woman accused of killing his grandmother. He described Pak as a single woman from South Korea who was instrumental in raising her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“Who was in their right mind, or what kind of evil, had to creep up to take my grandmother’s life?” Andy said to the Post.
Oh is in police custody and is being held without bond.
