Though she may not appear on the screen, Selena Gomez has been a driving force behind Netflix’s adaptation of 13 Reasons Why. The singer is an executive producer on the hit show and has referred to the series as a “passion project” ahead of its premiere in 2017. Although the show started beautifually, and was the topic of huge controversy last 2 years, the show failed to be nominated for grammy.
Prior to Emmys weekend, Selena was in Boston, where she was honored for her work with helping to break down the stigmas of mental health. She attended McLean Hospital’s annual dinner and gave a keynote speech.
Last year Dylan Minnette, who stars as Clay Jensen on the show, recalled one of his fondest memories working with Gomez in season one, telling us: “She stayed with us the whole day on set and talked to everyone. She took us out to dinner and saw a movie with us, and we hung out with her. I don’t think I can emphasize how generous she is and how genuinely she cares.” After her operation Selena has been the most down to earth person, helping wherever she can. These past years have totally turned around her perspective on life and we’re glad to see the star in this new light.
Gomez has had a relatively low-key summer. She spent her last weekend on the East Coast in Boston. The star attended McLean Hospital’s annual dinner there, where she was honored for her work destigmatizing the discussion around mental health. She gave the keynote speech there.
Selena may have not have attended the Emmy’s this year but the star might still attend the afterparty for Netflix. And we’ll keep a keen eye. Make sure to look around here to stay updated.
