It is said that love should be on the basis of blind faith but an incident proved that love is blind indeed.
A groom-to-be physically assaulted a ‘drunk’ bridesmaid two days before his wedding, and the bride-to-be still married him despite witnessing the incident at a Pennsylvania venue.
Daniel Carney, 28, of Stroudsburg, has been charged with involuntary deviate physical intercourse of an unconscious person and indecent assault.
The victim, a 29-year-old Oregon woman, said she was physically assaulted at the Shawnee Inn in Smithfield Township on August 30.
She told police that she was in town to attend Carney’s September 1 wedding and said the assault occurred in a downstairs men’s locker room.
It is reported that the wedding party spent the day boozing alcohol.
The victim became very drunk and even blacked out at some point during the day.
When she woke up, she told authorities that she found herself in the men’s locker room with Carney fondling her and her bottom removed.
A short time later, Carney’s bride-to-be walked in the room and witnessed the incident.
That led to a fight between the bride-to-be and Carney.
Investigators corroborated the victim’s story by reviewing surveillance footage that shows Carney pulling the victim into the locker room.
After the incident, police said Carney admitted to taking advantage of the woman and leading her into the locker room.
Despite it all, Carney and the bride-to-be got married on September 1.
It’s unclear if the victim remained a bridesmaid in the wedding.
