A groom-to-be from Pennsylvania Physically assaulted one of his fiancée’s bridesmaids while she was passed out, just two days before their planned wedding ceremony, The State Police told sources.
Daniel J. Carney, 28-year-old, supposedly attacked his fiancée bridesmaid at a Poconos hotel on Friday, August 30, and later he asked her to “be as happy as possible” for the welfare of the bride in a text message.
The 29-year-old woman from Oregon was in town for Carney’s wedding on September 1, and spent the entire day of the alleged assault, rafting on the Delaware River and drinking with other members of the wedding party.
The guest came back to the Shawnee Inn at around 8 p.m. By that time the bridesmaid was passed out and she was unable to stand on her own.
The following day was “chaos amongst the entire wedding party,” she told the police deputies, with Carney originally claiming that the bridesmaid began the locker room confrontation.
That morning, Daniel called to confess, according to the accusation. But she told Daniel she felt extremely disrupted and unsettled.
On the day of the wedding, Daniel texted and apologized again, citing “can we just be as happy as possible” for the fiancée, the accusation states.
He also requested her to take an emergency day-after contraceptive pill, The Police Deputies said.
Police Deputies heard a call between Daniel and the victim, through which he denied they had any physical intimation, but admitted physical assaulting her and confessed the accusation.
During an interview with Police Deputies, Daniel first declared he was intoxicated and “felt like he was taken advantage of by the victim” and then Altered his story to confessed he’d grabbed her arm and dragged her into the locker room, Police deputies said.
A friend of Daniel told the sources that the pair went through with the wedding ceremony.
Daniel was charged Friday with involuntary deviate physical assault.
