A man who lives in Richmond has been arrested for murder and charged for two counts of object physical penetration in association with the May 2019 death of a 17-month-old girl.
Barron T. Spurlock, 25, of Baronet Drive, is recently in prison on unrelated charges, according to Richmond Police.
Major Crimes Lt. Erlan Marshall told, “This was one of the more emotionally trying investigations for our detectives because of the age of the victim. We hope this arrest provides some measure of closure for the family and the community.”
The toddler, recognized by her family as Nariah Brown, was abandoned in the Midlothian Turnpike motel room with someone whom her mother believed, Nariah’s mom Aija Brown said to CBS 6 Crime Insider Jon Burkett.
Aija said in a May interview, “She never did anything to anybody. She wasn’t a mean baby. She was loving. She would go up to strangers hug them and smile.”
Police did not reveal the relationship between Spurlock and Brown.
If someone has any information, was requested to call Major Crimes Detective D. Longoria at 804-646-6759.
