A driver outside a West Hollywood nightclub is accused of raping two of his passengers, and the Los Angeles Police Department is now investigating for additional potential sufferers.
Last week, police arrested Dayvid Sherman, 48, on doubt of raping an intoxicated person after two individuals — in separate cases a year apart — blamed him of physically assaulting them inside his vehicle after they moved from a West Hollywood nightclub.
The first attack took place in October 2018. Authorities told Sherman to propose an intoxicated patron a ride home at a price cheaper than other ride-hailing services in the area.
The passenger accepted but lost consciousness once inside the vehicle. The rider awoke while being physically assaulted in the backseat, police told.
Sherman returned to the similar area last month and aimed another intoxicated person who had left the nightclub solo, authorities told.
That passenger also passed out inside Sherman’s vehicle, police told, and retrieved consciousness during the attack.
According to police reports, in both cases, Sherman was driving a large black SUV.
He is being retained in lieu of $200,000 bail and is registered to arrive in court Oct. 21, according to inmate records. It was not now clear whether the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office has listed formal charges against Sherman.
