Wayne County Officers have charged a young mother in association with the death of her newborn child.
She has been charged as a juvenile, according to Officers. 16-year-old is accused of killing her newborn child and hiding the child’s body in the bedroom closet.
On February 21 around 11:30 p.m., Emergency medical service was dispatched to a home in the 9100 blocks of Agnes in reply to a request for support for the teen, who had an unnamed medical condition, Officers say.
Physicians took the teen to a local hospital for medication. According to Officers, it was later found that earlier in the day on February 21, the teenager gave birth to a baby in a toilet in the Agnes home.
It is claimed that she fatally stabbing the baby many times. After the stabbing, it is further claimed that she enveloped the baby in a cloth sheet, placed the baby in a bag and hid the remains in a closet in her room, according to Wayne County Officers.
On February 22, Detroit Police Deputies were transmitted to the residence and found the dead baby in the closet. The mother is facing a second-degree homicide charge. A pre-trial hearing is programmed for Friday, October 25 at 9 a.m.
