A 15-year-old girl falsely blamed a family friend of molesting her because she was looking for attention.
The girl, from Townsville, accused 24-year-old Joshua Whyte of giving her sensual photos, molesting her, having love with her and masturbating in front of her.
But her allegations were rejected by a jury which discovered Whyte not guilty on Wednesday, told the Townsville Bulletin.
Whyte’s defense barrister Kelly Stone told the girl was ‘troubled’ and looking for attention.
The jury was revealed a video of the girl told police what had allegedly happened before Whyte spoke in court and dismissed the claims.
He told the girl was a family friend and they had spent time together at the weekends while growing up.
On the day of the alleged abuse, February 10 last year, she talked to him after she had a dispute with her mother, he told.
Whyte told that he ordered her an Uber to his house and gave her advice after she admitted she had been smoking, drinking and skipping school.
The girl had a shower while he watched TV but nothing physical happened, he told.
Whyte told that he later got an Uber to Stockland shopping center.
The jury cleared him after just 30 minutes of discussion.
