A teen mum who allegedly stabbed her newborn baby girl to death and then hid the body in her purse has been charged.
According to Wayne County prosecutors, the girl has been convicted as a juvenile.
On February 21 at 11:30 p.m., EMS was sent to a home in the 9100 blocks of Agnes St. in reply to a call for help for the teen, who had an unnamed medical condition, prosecutors tell.
Medics brought the teen to a local hospital for treatment. According to prosecutors, it was later found that earlier in the day, the teen gave birth to a child in a toilet in the Agnes apartment.
It is alleged that she fatally stabbed the baby multiple times. After the stabbing, it is alleged that she covered the infant in a towel, put her in a purse and hid the body in a closet in her room.
On February 22, Detroit police officers were sent to the apartment and discovered the dead infant in the closet.
The girl is facing a second-degree murder charge. A pretrial hearing is listed for October 25 at 9 a.m.
