An infant girl was buried alive near a cremation ground in Uttar Pradesh, India on Thursday.
Another family was digging the gave for their stillborn daughter found a container with a newly born girl buried almost two feet under. They found her was hardly breathing and was hurried to the district hospital in a critical state.
The Infant is undergoing medication for a lung infection and weighs only 1.1 kg. Currently, the infant is on oxygen support. As per the doctors, the baby appears to be born prematurely,
Harishchandra Joshi, The police deputy of the local Subhashnagar police department said, “We are trying to distinguish the person who had buried the infant girl alive. We are checking the CCTV footage of the cremation ground and women constables have been stationed in civil dress to search for the parents in the area. An FIR would be registered soon.”
Vaishali, the wife of Hitesh Kumar, had delivered a stillborn child at a private hospital in the city.
According to sources, Hitesh and his family members took the stillborn baby to the cremation ground in the locality. When a labourer started digging the grave, his shovel hit a container. When they took the container out, they found a baby enveloped in a cloth. The infant was alive and crying.
The doctors said that premature infants need less oxygen supply and the infant must be getting some oxygen through the holes in the soil.
Hospital personnel Vimal Kumar, who is currently looking after the Infant said, “Babies with such condition can survive if they are kept safe from infection. If her body accepts the medicine and diet other than her mother’s milk then she would recover soon. We all are praying for her survival.”
