A homeless person with a past of mental illness randomly assaulted a 6-year-old boy in presence of his grandparent’s residence in Queens on Thursday, October 10, afternoon, seriously hurting the boy, sources said.
The kid was sitting on the stair of his grandparent’s residence on Metropolitan Avenue near 123rd Street in Kew Gardens around 5 p.m. when the homeless wandered into their driveway, stated Rabbi Naftali Portnoy, the kid’s grandfather.
The 35-year-old homeless then seized the child, pulled him up and threw him to the pavement, slamming his face on the ground, Police said in the report.
His brother hastened into the residence and told his grandfather about the assault.
Kid’s grandfather Rabbi Naftali Portnoy dialed 911 and tailed the homeless, who wasn’t wearing any shirt, while he fed away from the spot down Metropolitan Avenue.
Police Deputies appeared soon after and held the suspect, who sat down on the road and said, “I’m bipolar,” the grandfather described.
The kid was hurried to Cohen Children’s Medical Center and attended for facial contusions and hemorrhaging to the brain, the sources state.
