A wife had told she has “no reason for living” after her monstrous husband hanged his four kids in their school uniforms when she gave him divorce papers.
Sibusiso Mpungose, 44, declared guilty to killing his children Kuhlekonke, 4, Khwezi, 6, Siphesihle, 10, and 17-year-old step-daughter Ayakha Jiyane. He was given 4 life sentences by Judge Sharmaine Balton at the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa on Wednesday.
He declared guilty to the murders which happened just a few days after his wife Xolisile, 42, had given him divorce papers. Mpungose informed the court that he murdered his children because he thought his wife was deceiving him. He waited until his wife left for work before ordering a string of taxis to pick his kids up from a nearby school.
He then took Kuhlekonke, 4, daughter Khwezi, 6, and son Sphesihile, 10, back to the marital home in Durban, South Africa, before ordering Sphesihile to leave and purchase sweets.
He then reportedly strung up the 2 most youthful kids with their school belts before hanging Sphesihile on his return. Cops told he then tricked his stepdaughter into leaving school and coming home before killing her too. Armed cops discovered the bodies of the 3 youngest kids after breaking down the door following a tip-off from their mum.
They then discovered Ayakha hanging from a tree – before catching Mpungose as he attempted to kill himself. Judge Balton told in sentencing that the murders were ” cruel and senseless”.
He will come back to court later this month to bear an additional charge of molestation in an unrelated incident, which supposedly happened days before he murdered his children.
