After the resounding success of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel Entertainment continues its ambitious expansion into the world of video games with a third-person action and adventure title based on its most profitable franchise of the last decade. The team of developer Crystal Dynamics has shared a new trailer that allows us to learn more about the history and gameplay of Marvel’s Avengers.
As we can see, this original story will begin during the A-Day, a celebration organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the headquarters of the Avengers on the west coast, but after being blamed for an explosion that leaves the city of San Francisco devastating our Heroes are forced to withdraw due to pressure from government and society.
Five years in the future, an organization called Advanced Mechanical Ideas (AIM) has taken its place, starting a conspiracy against superheroes who are declared illegal. As announced earlier this month, players will begin this epic journey with Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, who will be the key piece to gather the Avengers dispersed and discover the hidden truth after that fateful day.
A dismantled Helicarrier will be your base of operations and from here you can embark on two types of missions that will boost the narrative. The ” Hero Missions ” are only for one player and are part of the campaign, being designed to display the abilities of each of the Avengers while you gather them. The ” Warzone Missions ” can be played alone or cooperatively with groups of up to four people with any of your superheroes. These missions scale dynamically based on the size of the team and the level of the players.
Each Avenger will be faithful to his powers but can be customized differently depending on the equipment he carries and the skills he has available. Each hero will have their own dynamic combos system, their own abilities and special movements can be unlocked. Additionally, you can customize their costumes inspired by the mythology of more than 80 years of Marvel history.
Distributed by Square Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider), in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal, Nixxes Software and Crystal Northwest, the game originally announced under the title The Avengers Project in early 2017 will progress over several years with updates Content constants that will include new heroes and new regions at no additional cost to those who purchase the game.
Marvel’s Avengers will be released on May 15, 2020, for Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
