Two suspects have been detained in the shooting death of a seventeen-year-old boy in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, California a police officer announced Sunday, November 10.
Joshua Gomez, twenty-three-year-old, and a sixteen-year-old male juvenile were detained Saturday, November 9 in Rowland Heights on suspicion of shooting Ricardo Ramirez of Los Angeles, said Los Angeles Police Deputy Tony Im. The juvenile’s identity was withheld because of his age.
Joshua Gomez was detained around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, according to jail documents, and is being detained in lieu of a $1 million bond. However, there’s no status about juvenile.
No date for their hearing has been set but hearings are expected to commence soon.
A seventeen-year-old boy was shot and annihilated in Boyle Heights and his family gathered to maintain a vigil in his remembrance.
Police officers handling a traffic stop at 11:54 p.m. Friday, November 8, heard numerous gunshots in the area of Wabash and Evergreen avenues to which they responded to immediately, said Officer Rosario Cervantes of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
Ricardo Ramirez was declared dead at the disturbance at 12:05 a.m., as per the Los Angeles County coroner’s department.
The seventeen-year-old victim’s family members have set up an online funding page on GoFundMe to help with the funeral expenses. The donations were 800$ on the afternoon of Monday.
The police department has expressed condolences to the affected family members for their loss. The Los Angeles Police Department asked anyone with knowledge regarding the shooting death was asked to call the LAPD’s Hollenbeck station.
