A woman was shot in the leg following a dispute in a McDonald’s parking lot about a near car wreck, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Police went to the McDonald’s at 780 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive about 4:15 p.m. later getting a report about shooting there. Prosecutors say people traveling in a car there felt like a white car nearly hit them in the parking lot, so they ensured the white vehicle around the eatery.
The people who felt like their car was nearly hit got out to face the people in the white vehicle, police told. One of the people, 21-year-old Dlesjah Jones, said she saw someone in the white car point a gun out of the glass, and then that person began shooting, according to police.
A person shot Jones in the leg, police told. The people in the white wheels drove off, heading south on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and the other car started following them, police said. EMS brought Jones to the hospital, and her wounds are not life-threatening, police said.
Police obtained multiple shell casings from the place, and what seemed to be Jones’ shoes. The right shoe was coated in blood, and next to it in the parking lot were bloodstained eatery napkins.
Officials taped off the parking lot so Winston-Salem police Forensic Services could gather evidence.
Officials ask anyone with information about the firing to contact the police department at 336-773-7700, or Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
