The second incarnation of Sin Cara, Jorge Arias has requested to be released from his WWE contract. His WWE career began in 2011 when he temporarily took over for the original Sin Cara, Luis Urive, before finally performing unmasked as Hunico. But, when Urive was released from WWE, Arias once again wore the mask and began wrestling as Sin Cara full-time.

Possibly the wrestler’s most memorable stint with WWE was from 2013-2016 when he partnered with fellow luchador performer Kalisto. Along with Kalisto, they had the NXT Tag Team Championship on one occasion and were regular contenders in the WWE Tag Team Championship picture.
The wrestler’s most recent televised appearance was the Oct. 21 edition of Monday Night Raw that he lost a singles match to Andrade Cien Almas. The current RAW superstar worked a short feud against Andrade since the draft, which he lost. He was sidelined a few times with injuries before that and was mostly featured towards the bottom tier of the roster.
At the moment of this writing, it’s unclear as to why he asked his release or if WWE has granted it. The wrestler shared on Twitter: Last night, after praying and considering it a lot, thinking about my children and their future, I made one of the most difficult … I have asked for my WWE release. … traveled the world, met incredible people and fought for the incredible fans of the WWE Universe.
… I have worked hard and honestly for many years to brighten my trade, I have been loyal, respectful, a team player, support and I have patiently waited for the opportunity to give the world everything I can do. Sadly, after all these years, that opportunity never came or I feel that it will ever come while I remain where I am.
I want to thank WWE for this unbelievable chapter… . Most importantly, thanks to the WWE Universe for its consistent support and to all my public that in all parts of the world has supported me and gave its affection, the only way I can correspond is to remain giving myself with all the dedication, passion and professionalism that I have Always shown. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
