An Uber taxi driver has been caught on allegations that he returned to a passenger’s home and molested her hours later he dropped her off.
Tulsa police detectives held Steven Floyd Whitesell, 51, of Bixby on two complaints of molestation by instrumentation and single counts of violent oral sodomy and first-degree burglary, according to prison records.
“The offender initially denied any physical contact,” but after DNA was collected from him, he “admitted to coming back to her home a second time and arriving into her house …,” an investigator formulated in a probable cause affidavit.
The victim reported to police that she and some fellows went out drinking on Nov. 1 and requested for a rideshare from the 400 blocks of South Main Street in the fresh morning hours.
The driver claimed to be Whitesell, dropped off her companions and took the woman to her home. The surveillance video from the woman’s house shows that the driver-assisted her into her residence around 2 a.m. Nov. 2, according to the affirmation. He was inside the residence for nearly 30 minutes.
Footage also shows a man believed to be Whitesell return at 4:30 a.m. and move again about 6:20 a.m. after peeing in the driveway, according to the affidavit.
The woman told prosecutors that she was highly drunk but remembered waking up at least twice and saw the driver physically assaulting her while those times.
Between the periods of unconsciousness, the lady told the man “not to do that,” and he ended, she reportedly told the police.
On Wednesday, detectives got a DNA sample from Whitesell and asked him about the assaults, according to the affidavit. Whitesell confessed to the assault, the document states. “The defendant said that he does not remember why he came back a second time but the victim told him to,” the prosecutor wrote in the affidavit.
