A man in Clinton Township is bearing 10 felony charges after police tell that he shot his girlfriend in presence of their small child after an argument regarding their relationship.
A 25-year-old Mount Clemens woman talked with Macomb County deputies about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday regarding a fight with her boyfriend police told.
She informed officers she had gotten into a dispute with her boyfriend, Devonita Blakes, 26, regarding their relationship, according to officials.
The woman told that Blakes shot her while inside her vehicle with their small child, officials told. The woman had a gunshot wound to her shoulder, police told.
The woman was brought to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities told. Her child was no injuries.
Blakes was discovered at his house in the Harbours Apartments in Clinton Township, police told.
Macomb County deputies and Clinton Township officers told Blakes fired shots at them from inside his apartment. Police told they did not return fire.
Nobody was injured, but an unoccupied Clinton Township squad car was struck, police said.
Blakes eventually walked out of his apartment unarmed after many commands from officers.
He was brought into custody and lodged at the Macomb County Jail, officials told.
On Thursday, Blakes was charged with 10 felony charges, attack with a plan to murder, first-degree child abuse, discharging a firearm in or at a building and five felony firearm violations.
He was indicted at 41-B District Court in Clinton Township and is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Blakes has to dress a tether if freed on bond. He is scheduled to come back to court Nov. 27 for a probable cause conference.
