John Woo is fondly remembered as The Master Of Action Film though he has not topped any Hollywood production in quite some time now, but is surely a legendary director. His action genres range from classic Hong Kong flicks like Hard Boiled and A Better Tomorrow to western movies such as Mission Impossible 2 and Paycheck, and now John Woo has solidified himself.
Face/Off was John’s movie, in which John Travolta and Nicolas Cage face-off after they have exchanged identities by literally transplanting their faces on each body. It was one of Woo’s most bizarre movies and probably his most famous piece. While the idea might seem a bit overrated right now because this movie was released back in 1997, the tale was received adorably by the audiences and also by the critics. The movie even won an Academy Award nominee for Best Effects, Best Sound Effects, and Best Editing.
It should not come as a surprise now that the Paramount has taken a decision on rebooting Face/Off. It will pass on the sequel presumably of the storyline that Woo has pitched years back.
But it is not yet confirmed that who will be starring in the second part of the movie and no official casting announcements have been made. It seems as if the plot of the film will be written by Oren Uziel who has cut his teeth on The Cloverfield Paradox, 22 Jump Street and the upcoming film titled as Sonic the Hedgehog.
So it is time for bad news for you guys if you were thinking that John Woo will return to direct this sequel. It is confirmed that John Woo has announced no involvement with this new project. And the worst part about it is, he was not even informed by paramount that they had an idea of updating his movie in the first place.
