A SIX-MONTH OLD baby was “molested and suffocated” by a thief who snatched the toddler from his cot while his mum’s back was turned.
A man is alleged to invade home in the village of San Miguel Ixtahuacan, north-western Guatemala, while the baby, named in reports as I.G., was with his unnamed mother in the house.
The mother told reporters: “I was cooking and my baby was sleeping in bed. I left him nice and quiet and then I went to see him, but he was not there anymore.
“I thought my sister in law had taken him.”
The woman claimed that “the man took off his (the baby’s) trousers and left them almost at the front door”.
She then asked for neighbors to help find the toddler and after a search in the surrounding area, the baby’s clothes were found near a cemetery
Preceding investigations point to an unknown man breaking into the house and kidnapping the baby.
The baby was later found dead in a river under a bridge, with signs of having been suffocated and molested.
The father of the baby Roberto Gonzalez “This person has no heart. He did something he should not have done to an innocent child.”
Authorities checked CCTV cameras at the scene and reportedly managed to identify the alleged suspect, but he has not yet been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
