A music teacher who trained students at First Coast High School is implicated in taking advantage of a teen on various occasions.
Christine Dennard was just freed from jail this weekend.
Dennard is identified to her neighbors as a friendly person.
“What I know of, she is fine as she can be,” said one neighbor who requested not to be named.
But it’s her alleged relationship with a previous 16-year-old student that has people speaking.
According to a police statement, a 16-year-old girl told deputies Dennard was her teacher, and their relation lasted from April 2018 to October 2018.
The student alleges they had a physical on and off-campus.
She arrived in court on Saturday and bonded out of jail.
Action News Jax Reporter Jamarlo Phillips went to her house to try to hear her side of the story Monday but no one responded to the door.
Neighbors are angered about the accusations.
“I can’t think about it. I still can’t think it. The whole family is just as nice as they can be. You couldn’t ask for anybody in this area any better,” said the neighbor.
The district told Action News Jax Dennard began training at First Coast High School in 2015. It’s also examining.
