A 14-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman are both arrested after the woman fired the girl in the chest when the girl attempted to rob her Friday afternoon in the Little Village neighborhood, Chicago police told.
The 2 met in the 2300 block of South Drake Avenue around 5:45 p.m. for a sale, police told. The girl pulled out a pellet gun and shot Araceli Diaz, of Maywood, on the head with it. When the girl attempted to take Diaz’s property without spending for it, Diaz took out a handgun and shot the girl in the chest.
The girl, who is not identified because she is a juvenile, was brought to Stroger Hospital in severe condition, police told. Diaz left the area in a white car, and police later discovered a pellet gun near the scene.
Diaz, who has a valid firearm owner’s classification card but not a hidden carry license, was charged with aggravated illegal use of a weapon. She was brought into custody in the 1400 block of South 57th Court in Cicero around an hour later, police told.
The 14-year-old was cited in a juvenile petition with tried robbery with a firearm, and was supposed to arrive in Juvenile Court on Dec. 9, police told.
Diaz was supposed to go before a judge Sunday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
