A Florida woman is in custody after falsifying a medical problem throughout a flight, which eventually forced the plane to be diverted, in order to get a bigger seat.
The woman, who has not been recognized, wrongly alleged to have a medical problem throughout a Friday morning American Airlines flight from Pensacola to Miami in an effort to get a bigger seat.
The pilot announced an emergency and turned the plane back to Pensacola after the woman reported having trouble breathing, Pensacola Police Department public information officer Mike Wood said. Flight crews called the police to Pensacola International Airport, where the woman confessed she had made up the medical problem in order to get a bigger seat on the plane.
The woman initially denied to deplane, indicating a complete evacuation of the aircraft, but authorities and the pilot were eventually able to persuade her to exit the plane.
The woman was brought into protective custody under the state’s Baker Act, which enables authorities to arrest individuals considered to pose a threat to themselves or others.
The criminal charges have not been registered yet against the stupid woman, but she may still be charged, according to Wood. No one was hurt.
