A teen was kidnapped at knifepoint on Sunday afternoon was freed without any injuries after police killed her abductor.
Jordan Patrick Oliver, 20, abducted 15-year-old Samara Derwin outside Nanticoke High School in Luzerne County took her in a stolen police vehicle and was later tracked with the abducted girl in a wooded area of Warrior Run Borough.
According to the information received from the sources, officers were called to an area near the high school around 3:18 p.m. and found the accused holding Derwin hostage with a knife to her throat.
After a long confrontation with the man, the victim became separated from Oliver and was directed to a police vehicle kept near the scene while the officers were trying to detain the accused. But unexpectedly, the accused sprayed a mixture on the officers and fled in a police vehicle with the victim.
As a result, considering the dangerous situation in which the victim got herself stuck, an officer fired shots at Oliver, the accused.
A statewide Amber Alert was issued, and he was charged in a warrant with abduction, provoked assault, unlawful control, and theft.
Investigators were successful in tracing the pair near the Warrior Run Area where the deadly confrontation led to the accused’s death.
It is still not clear as to how he was killed and what were the circumstances during his confrontation with the police. Investigation is still under process and nothing has been informed regarding the condition and further details of the girl.
