A Brazilian mum who killed her son because he was gay will spend the next 25 years behind bars.
Tatiana Ferreira Lozano Pereira was sentenced in a jury trial last week to 25 years and eight months in prison after she was sentenced for killing her 17-year-old son Itaberli Lozano.
The two men who were supposed to carry out the crime but could not go through with it – Victor Roberto da Silva and Miller da Silva Barissa – will each serve 21 years and eight months in prison.
It is reported that 35-year-old supermarket manager Pereira from the small town of Cravinhos in Sao Paulo state had never accepted her son after he came out.
In December 2016, the pair had a huge row and Lozano left home to live with his grandmother.
Shortly afterward, in early January 2017, Pereira lured her boy to his death by telling him she wanted to make up.
However, she had secretly employed da Silva and Barissa to kill him.
Although the pair were happy to beat him up, they did not kill the youth and his mother gave him the final blow and stabbed him to death.
Lozano’s stepfather Alex Pereira then took the body to a sugarcane field.
The teen’s body found on January 7.
During the trial, Tatiana Pereira confirmed that she was not homophobic but rather she had clashed with Lozano because he used narcotics and brought men home.
However, police found social media evidence of Pereira hiring neighborhood men to beat her son up.
