An Indiana resident was fatally shot on Friday, November 29, night as he tried to stop a gunman through his bachelor party, according to the sources.
Christopher Smith, 41-year-old, was one of two people shot at Jake’s Pub in Indianapolis at approximately around 10 p.m. Smith was to be married in two weeks, and his fiancée’s sibling told the sources that he was shot by a gun and killed while trying to attack the suspect.
Smith’s fiancée’s sibling told the sources that the suspect traded words with someone before displaying a gun. Responding police officers reportedly found Smith and another person wounded at the disturbance. They said the second victim is in a stable state, the sources report.
Police also stated that they have recognized a suspect but are not revealing their name because investigators are still examining and interviewing eyewitnesses. Eyewitnesses said there were several people at the pub at the moment of Friday’s deadly gunfire.
The pub has posted a statement regarding the disturbance on social media that states, “The entire Jake’s community is mourning tonight as we strive to put the pieces collectively from last night’s ridiculous act. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to all of the family members and friends that were struck by this terrible tragedy. You are, and will be in our spirits and prayers.”
The sources report that Smith’s body organs will be donated. An examination is still ongoing.
