Officials are investigating human remains discovered badly burned in Southwest Bexar County.
“We’re handling this right now as a homicide investigation,” said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. “The body is burned beyond physical recognition. Plus, there’s a state of decomposition there.”
A farmer discovered the burned bones while digging a nearby field late Tuesday afternoon. The field is positioned along the 12000 blocks of Wisdom Road.
According to Salazar, the bones were possible there for several days and could belong to a kid.
“[It’s] most likely a small grown-up or a large child,” said Salazar. “Beyond that, I can’t figure as to gender or name at this point.
Neighbors of La Coste curiously drove by the crime spot on Tuesday. Several neighbors we met were worried after hearing sirens.
“This is unusual,” said Mary Lopez a neighbor. “We nevermore have anything like this in our area. It’s very quiet.”
“It’s a little bit unnerving thought that they’re beginning to dump bodies out here,” said George Cielencki a neighbor. “That’s not actually something you want to have in your backyard.
The charred remains were spotted about 100 yards off Wisdom Road near the line of two separate properties.
“That’s just very strange,” said Cielencki. “I mean, I don’t know who would really have access to that property back there.”
Bexar County prosecutors are using a K9 deputy and a drone to help look for evidence.
“We’re going to work as soon as we can to compare what we’ve seen out here to other disappeared person cases that we have,” said Salazar.
If you identify any possible information about this case or think you noticed something, you’re requested to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
