Connecticut: A man allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son after a dispute over smoking in the house and later killed himself.
Son, Sterling Jette Jr., and daughter, Della Jette, were shot in the chest by their mother’s boyfriend. Soon after the incident, they were transported to the hospital where they were declared dead.
Watertown Police Chief, John Gavallas, stated in an interview that the authorities received a call around 9:30 p.m. from a woman who reported that her boyfriend had just shot her two children.
When the authorities arrived at the house where the offense was committed, they found the accused, 42-year-old Paul Ferguson, in the master bedroom, and discovered him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The authorities also found both of the children who were shot by their mother’s boyfriend.
According to the information given by sources, the mother, Danielle Jette, informed the police there was a heated argument in the house between Ferguson, who used to smoke cigarettes in the house which her daughter did not like and was upset about the indoor smoking.
Della went on a school trip earlier that day and when she came back home at night, she discussed Ferguson’s smoking habits and the conversation grew louder which forced Ferguson to come upstairs where he asked his girlfriend’s daughter to quite down.
He got so much frustrated and agitated that he went to his room and came back with a shotgun with which he first shot his girlfriend in her leg as she was trying to stop him.
She then ran downstairs to call 911 and at the same moment, heard another gunshot which was supposedly fired on her daughter.
Ferguson was a convicted malefactor who was earlier charged with physical assault in a spousal relationship.
After further investigation, Police even found several weapons in a safe inside the house but are not sure whether he bought those weapons or someone else.
The couple had been in a relationship for about two years where the accused into Jette’s house two weeks ago but no statement has been provided whether he was into narcotics.
