(ANSONIA, Conn.) — A body discovered inside the house of a missing 1-year-old Connecticut girl has been recognized as the child’s mother, police told on Thursday.
43-year-old Christine Halloway was discovered dead on Monday night in an Ansonia house where she and her daughter Vanessa Morales resided, according to Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch.
However, the child was nowhere to be discovered. Lynch told the priority of the inquiry is bringing Vanessa home safely.
“We just require to know where she is and she is safe and well,” he told in a press conference.
He told that authorities are following some leads into both the homicide and missing child.
Vanessa’s aunt, Anna, begged for her niece’s safe return in the same press conference.
“Help bring Vanessa home securely,” she told through tears.
She urged anyone with information on Vanessa’s locations to contact Ansonia police or the FBI.
Police are seeking through a donation center in Hamden, found nearly 13 miles west of Ansonia, according to Lynch. Evidence is being collected, he told, but he would not go into detail.
Lynch told that Vanessa’s father is cooperating. He made a point to remark that police are not seeing to arrest anyone.
“Whatever circumstances that they have Vanessa, just bring her back,” Lynch stated.
