A 59-year-old man bears murder charges in Texas, where authorities claim he murdered his 29-year-old wife.
The Hood County Sheriff’s Office tells since October Jennifer Pautenis has been missing.
Investigators claim Edward Michael Pautenis informed them he last viewed his wife as she was leaving her house in Granbury, Texas, on October 20, 2019.
Pautenis supposedly said that some of her family members he was putting their 2 young children to bed when he learned her leave the home.
Pautenis was detained on Wednesday, after the discovery of human remains supposed to be his wife’s.
“We are now working a scene in Hood County where human remains are being obtained and may be the remains of Jennifer Pautenis,” explains a statement from police. “The remains will be transferred to a forensic lab for classification and processing for DNA to verify the identity of the remains.”
In addition to murder, Pautenis is charged with tampering with evidence.
“I’m happy to see this case move forward,” Sheriff Roger Deeds told in the statement. “My investigators have operated non-stop since Jennifer was reported missing and my goal is, we give Jennifer’s family some type of closure on this terrible tragedy.”
Jennifer Pautenis’ relatives supposedly heard of her disappearance from one of her co-workers, not her husband.
Before her death, she had been serving in a restaurant, recently recognized her goal of becoming a dispatcher for emergency medical technicians, according to the sources.
