A woman and her husband have been detained in Mumbai for allegedly murdering her brother.
According to senior police inspector Mahesh Desai, a body was discovered from bushes in RCF are of Chembur on December 3. The body could not be recognized then. During the search, the cops found that a lady and a man were roaming near the jungle area just a day before the body was discovered.
The woman was recognized as 29-year-old Reshma Ohwal. During the investigation, she explained that the body is of her brother Devendra Akhade, 32.
Reshma then admitted that she strangled her brother Devendra to death following a dispute. Reshma said a fight between her brother and her broke out over his “bad habit” of drinking, through which Reshma strangled, leading to his death.
Reshma then asked her spouse, who has now been jailed along with her, to help her dump the body of her brother.
According to police officials, deceased Devendra drinks a lot.
“A few years back, Devendra’s spouse left him as he used to physically attack her. He used her to attack his woman after coming home drunk. Reshma claimed that a few years back their mom too died due to this torture. However, Devendra kept drinking and even lost his work. He used to harass other family members for money,” police officers told.
“On December 1 evening, there was a dispute between Devendra and other family members. This is when Devendra attempted to attack Reshma and her in a fit of rage choked him,” police said.
