A Pennsylvania hothead purportedly stole a cup of java, then threw the scalding coffee at one of the state troopers who faced her, officials said.
Sonja Connors, 52, was held Monday on an aggravated attack charge for hurling the cup of joe at a trooper at a Youngwood convenience store, media reported.
The incident began at a Burger King next door when Connors went back to the counter and poured herself a cup of coffee.
“[She] pours herself a cup of coffee, is confronted by one of the assistant managers, telling her, ‘You can’t be back here, one, and two, you owe us for the coffee,’” Trooper Steve Limani said the outlet.
Connors shoved the worker, then walked out of the fast-food eatery to the convenience store, where officers saw her holding the cup of coffee, state police told.
She stepped away from the officers, only to return moments next and hurl the coffee cup, beating one of the troopers, reported. The officer was not wounded in the incident, which was captured on surveillance footage.
“There could have been burns that could have happened to the police officer, if it hit him in the eyes, things of that nature,” Limani said.
She is being kept at Westmoreland County Jail and is scheduled in court next week, the report said.
