The body of a disappeared California woman has been found inside a left U-Haul, according to the news report.
Dead Body Found In A Truck
Ashley Manning, 29 — who disappeared nearly two months ago — was discovered dead wrapped in plastic and duct tape at a Fullerton storage facility on Friday, as nearby news media reported.
Her family informed the police about her missing after not getting to her following a flight Nov. 13 from Dallas to Los Angeles.
Officials said the U-Haul truck was hired by an unknown person who left the vehicle abandoned in the Anaheim area.
When the U-Haul truck wasn’t returned, the officials traced the vehicle and returned it back to the storage facility, according to the news report.
“After they found the truck, they carried it to the Fullerton location to do an inventory of the contents of the vehicle,” Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer said in a news conference. “During that inventory search, they found what they considered to be human remains, and it has been affirmed that it is human remains.”
Officials Calling The Death As Suspicious
No cause of death was quickly given, but officials and deputies are investigating the death as suspicious.
“We are not calling it a killing yet,” Carringer said. “It’s clearly a suspicious death, and the conditions in which the body was discovered are certainly unusual, but we’re working on to treat it as if it could probably be a homicide.”
“As a family, we are attempting to navigate this struggle and this remarkably hard time,” the post said.
