A Ugandan man who failed to make enough inquiry before marrying his sweetheart has found out the difficult way that his newly married wife is a man and not a woman. I feel so sad for the poor man as what he thought to be his wife is actually a man.
A report by news media states that Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba, the Imam of Kyampisi Masjid in the Kayunga area, was delayed to pave the way for inquiries into the matter.
Regional Kadhi Sheikh Abdul Noor Kakande is described as saying that the move to suspend the 27-year-old Mallam is to protect and save the integrity of the religion.
Mutumba reportedly married with his ‘wife’ Ms Swabullah Nabukeera about two weeks ago, after meeting her at the Kyampisi mosque.
Surprisingly, the couple has since not gotten close because the assumed wife pretended to be in her menstrual period.
While Mutumba was setting tight for the period to be over for him to get close to his ‘wife’, and neighbor rarely accused her of jumping over a fence dividing their houses and stealing clothes and TV.
The alleged robbery case was informed to the deputies and police, and during inquiries, police discovered out that Mrs. Mutumba is a man.
During investigations, Nabukeera told his real name as Richard Tumushabe and that the wedding was an act just to cheat Mutumba of his money.
The man has been reportedly charged with acting, theft, and obtaining assets by false appearance.
His alleged aunt, who took the dowry and other money was also detained, and she confessed that Mutumba had paid dowry, including two goats, two bags of sugar, and other grocery items.
She told officers that she could not have understood that her ‘niece’-turned nephew was a male, pretending she got to know him when he was already an adult.
