NASA has announced previously that as the section of organization’s Planetary Science Division, the PDCO (the Planetary Defence Coordination Office) worked together and strategized against the life-ending events that are possible to hit the Earth and finally that would be the end of the world.
The primary function of the PDCO is not only to record and track the PHO objects – potentially hazardous objects like asteroids and comets which hit or pass through our planet but also to try stimulating these PHO objects to appear without we noticing them and thus to study how to divert them from the space. They also look at the possibilities and effects of those objects hitting in the future.
For instance, there was a report last year in the youtube channel where “Wired” spoke about the existence of the PDCO and its role. They revealed that the scientists are now focusing on how to avoid these asteroids hurtling the Earth in the space and added that no such objects exist.
In answer to the above revelation by Wired, Plesko, a Planetary scientist explained how do they make models of an asteroid or simulate them and figure out the possible outcomes by the use of supercomputers to equip them better for the future and briefed the importance of the project.
She also added that we learn from practices as they have failed a few times before and now it is the best time to equip and work them as they have the best capabilities.
