Shazam is a superhero film that is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. David F. Sandberg directs the movie from a screenplay written by Henry Gayden, and a story by Gayden and Darren Lemke.
The movie features Asher Angel as Billy Batson, a young boy who can change into an adult superhero, performed by Zachary Levi. The film revolves around Billy Batson, who is appointed by the ancient wizard Shazam as his new champion and gets many superpowers.
Work on the live-action Shazam movie started at New Line in the early 2000s but was held for many years.
Shazam was premiered on April 5, 2019. The film earned over $366 million worldwide, making it the second lowest-grossing film of the DCEU but still a box office victory.
