A team of researchers and planetary experts have recently discovered a “baby giant” exoplanet. As per the reports, this planet is closer to Earth than any other planet present in the Universe.
As per the information, this planet is just 330 light-years away from the Earth.
Exoplanets are those kinds of planets that are beyond our solar system. This particular ” baby giant” was located by the experts and scientists at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The reports and information related to this discovery were published in Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society.
The expert has names his exoplanet as 2MASS 1155-7919 b. This planet has an unusually extensive orbit around its “parent” star and is 600 times more distant than the distance between Earth and the sun. The creation of systems so far from their host star is the subject of robust debate.
Scientists are expecting to investigate 2Mass 1155-7919 b further to learn how enormous planets can have such broad orbits.
As per the reports, the planet’s parent star is just 5 million years old. It makes this planet 1,000 times younger than the sun.
Scientists and experts are also saying that this planet is so huge that this planet is around ten times the mass of Jupiter, that is one of the gas giants present in the Universe. This planet was located by scientists by using data from the Gaia space observatory.
