A brief description of the case from Washington
A Washington man is booked for 15 years after he texted on a plane about molesting kids.
The suspect who texted about molesting kids was spotted by a fellow passenger.
Michael Kellar, 58, was caught messaging his girlfriend Gail Lynn Burnworth, 52, while he was on a flight to San Jose, but suddenly his co-passenger found disturbing messages on his phone.
The co-companion hawked the message on the suspect’s phone
The responsible passenger told the authorities that the man sitting in front of her was texting about assaulting kids on his phone in large fonts.
“I commend the airline passenger who spoke up about the disturbing texts she witnessed on her flight,” US Attorney Brian T. Moran said in a statement. “We all have had that moment when we question: ‘Do I get involved.’”
The man was talking to his girlfriend about giving drugs to the children
In the conversation, the suspect and his girlfriend were talking about giving Benadryl as a drug to the children and then physically molesting two of the three children, aged 5 and 7 at the time, who lived in Burnworth.
The companion passenger took a photograph of the text in her phone as a piece of evidence and reported it to the flight attendants, then the attendants alerted the police and arrested Kellar.
“This case for me … has been the most disturbing case that I have had,” US District Judge Ronald B. Leighton said.
Charges against the suspect and his girlfriend
Kellar is accused of conspiracy to produce child pornography and access with intent to view child pornography.
Keller is imprisoned for 15 years without any chance of parole. His girlfriend is also taken into custody and is being questioned about the case. If she will be found guilty, then she would be sent to jail for a lifetime.
