Ilhan Omar Blasts Over False Story Claiming She Married Her Own Brother
Rep. Ilhan Omar impacted “counterfeit reports” and those dealing in “hostile to Muslim smears” on Thursday — hours after a report was distributed asserting that she wedded her sibling.
“Similar individuals who rebuke the dynamic development normally traffic is hostile to Muslim spreads and loathe discourse against me and those I speak to,” the Minnesota Democrat tweeted. “It’s as though they don’t truly think about online provocation.”
The 38-year-old congresswoman was reacting to tweets from “The View” co-have Meghan McCain, including one from Wednesday that condemned Sen. Bernie Sanders and his “military of Bernie bro’s” for misanthropic online assaults. The other was a screengrab in which McCain shared another tweet blaming Omar for wedding her sibling and expressed: “How is this not a greater arrangement?”
“Paying individuals to create counterfeit reports to delegitimize me and those I speak to is certifiably not a decent look,” Omar composed. “Distress is a miserable, assembling apparatus.” The announcement came hours after the Daily Mail distributed a story in which a Minnesota man named Abdihakim Osman — who professed to have connections to Omar — said she wedded her sibling to assist him with picking up citizenship to the United States.
