A man has been jailed after he was accused of molesting a woman while pretending to be an Uber driver.
On Monday morning, police observed a 2018 white Jeep Compass driving east on Woodland Avenue with no headlights or taillights.
Police surrounded the vehicle and found Monty Nath inside with a woman.
Officers detected alcohol on Nath’s breath and asked him to step out of the car. As Nath exited, they noticed that his pants were unzipped and that there was a pair of red boxers on the driver’s side floor.
Nath told police that he was going home from Barley House and “messed around” with the woman. He said he was taking her back to his house in Shaker Heights.
At the same time, the woman told the police she ordered Uber to take her back home in Elyria.
When officers told the woman she was headed in the opposite direction of Elyria, she initiated her Uber app to show that she ordered one, but it had been canceled.
According to the report, the woman was looking for her Uber after leaving The Ivy and walked up to Nath’s car when she saw it and asked him if he was her Uber.
Police asked Nath if he was an Uber and asked them to show them his credentials. Nath opened his phone to show her address plugged into Google Maps, not Uber.
Nath has been arrested for abuse and driving under the influence.
