Second Wave Of Coronavirus
The United States’ top coronavirus doctor has declared the second wave of Covid-19 infections is not necessary if people follow social distancing guidelines.
White House immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that holding to current rules and using contact tracing completely could prevent the second head of cases.
Dr. Fauci Claims
Dr. Fauci, who is also the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said: “We don’t have to admit that second half as an inevitability. ‘And especially when people start thinking about the year. I want people to appreciate that it could happen, but it is not sure.”
The infectious diseases expert struck a more positive approach than last month when he said: “It is certain that coronavirus will return next season, how we handle it will decide our fate.”
Specialists fear Covid-19 could come back this year and winter as heats drop, and fear the virus could destroy hospitals which are already struggling with the regular winter flu season. Dr. Fauci has repeatedly strengthened President Trump’s confident outbursts about ensuring treatments or duration for the virus being contained.
During Wednesday’s interview, Dr. Fauci said continued isolation efforts, as well as a track and trace system to identify and isolate people exposed to the virus, could stop a second outbreak.
He explained: ‘If we do the kinds of things that we’re setting in place now, to have the system, and the will to do the kinds of things that are the clear and efficient classification, isolation and contact tracing, we can stop this second wave that we’re talking about if we do it correctly.’
